Website Ownership & Licensing Terms
Effective January 2026 · Version 2026-01
This document is provided for general information and is being finalized pending review by legal counsel. It is not legal advice. Project-specific terms are governed by your signed Order Form and Client Services Agreement, which control in the event of any conflict.
1. Ownership models
Ownership is not one-size-fits-all. Your Order Form prominently states which of the following models applies to your project:
- Ownership of the custom website transfers only after all committed fees and approved additional charges are paid in full.
- You own the custom deliverables after full payment, while we retain our preexisting tools, systems, frameworks, templates, and reusable code.
- The website is licensed during the subscription and may be transferred after payment of a stated buyout amount.
2. What you own
Subject to the model above and payment, you own your domain, your content, your logos and photography, and your custom copy and custom design. You are responsible for the rights to any content and materials you provide to us.
3. What we retain
We retain our preexisting and reusable frameworks, internal tools, and templates, and we license any third-party components, stock media, plugins, and fonts to you under their applicable licenses. Analytics and advertising accounts follow the assignment stated in your Order Form.
4. Transfer conditions
Transfer of any deliverable or account occurs only after the conditions in your Order Form are met (including full payment where required). A site or account transfer/migration-out fee of $150 may apply. We will not unlawfully retain client-owned assets or data.
5. Portfolio rights
Unless your Order Form says otherwise, we may display the completed work and reference your business in our portfolio and marketing.
