- Review the calculated price, add exclusions and export your estimate.
A worked example
Example only: 8 hours × 2 people × $30 costs $480. Add $200 materials and $120 overhead for $800 total. A 20% margin requires $800 ÷ 0.80 = $1,000, leaving $200 before excluded costs.
What the result includes
This is a planning estimate, not a signed contract or market-price recommendation. Taxes, permits and unentered costs are excluded. Confirm site conditions before making a binding offer.
Common questions
Is margin the same as markup?
No. Margin is profit divided by selling price; markup is profit divided by cost. A 20% margin on $800 cost gives a $1,000 price; a 20% markup gives $960.
Can I use it for painting or landscaping?
Yes. Enter your own scope, worker-hours, materials and overhead. There are no preset trade rates.
