What you own, what Tech Turtle owns, and how the buyout works.
Who owns my website?
On subscription plans, Tech Turtle owns the website design and implementation unless you buy it through the $1,995 buyout. Your logos, photos, trademarks, written materials, and other content you provide always remain yours.
Can I buy my website?
Yes. The website buyout is $1,995. It transfers the agreed website deliverables, the applicable design rights and license, transferable website assets, domain transfer rights, and the handoff files.
What's included in the $1,995 buyout?
The agreed website deliverables, applicable design rights and license, transferable website assets, the domain handoff, and the website files and handoff materials. Third-party licensed assets and nontransferable services keep their original license terms.
Does buying my website include hosting?
No. Buying the website doesn't include lifetime hosting. Tech Turtle can keep hosting it for $10/month, or you can move it to another host and we'll hand over the agreed transferable deliverables.
Do I pay a domain transfer fee if I buy my website?
The $1,995 full buyout includes the agreed domain handoff, so we don't add the separate $50 domain transfer fee or historical domain charges unless your signed agreement specifically requires them.
Do I own the content I provide?
Yes. Your logos, photos, trademarks, written materials, and other original content stay your property at all times.
What about stock photos, fonts, and plugins?
Third-party licensed assets, software subscriptions, and nontransferable services stay subject to their original license terms, even after a buyout. We'll tell you which assets can transfer.
Why don't I own the website on the monthly plan?
The free build is funded by the subscription. That's how we avoid charging thousands up front. If you prefer to own it, the $1,995 buyout is always available.
Can I buy my website later?
Yes. You can request the $1,995 buyout at any time while your subscription is active. Email office@justtechturtleit.com to start.
Can I move my purchased website to another host?
Yes. After a buyout, we provide the agreed transferable website deliverables so another provider can host them, subject to technical and contractual limitations. Some platform-specific features may not transfer one-to-one.
